Week 7

This week, Brafton sent the draft of the 90 second animation ad that I edited their script for. Jim sent me the link to view the draft and he told me to write down my thoughts on it before he says anything. Overall, I thought the animation was great and I could tell that Brafton took our suggestions about the script into account. One criticism that I had for it was that the man speaking in the video talked very fast and that is probably because there was so much information to squeeze in 90 seconds. Another critique that I had was that they only mention the benefits that a potential user would get out of the site and no mentioning of the perks of becoming a customer. Overall, I loved reviewing the script because it allows me to have an active role in the marketing of the company as well as me learning a lot about how marketing is done at start up companies.

On Friday, Tricia, who is working for Jim at Brafton, gave Jim and I a presentation on how Google Analytics work. She shared her screen with us and gave us a walk through on how useful the tool is. I have always known what Google Analytics was, however I have never seen it being used and what it is used for exactly. I was amazed at the amount of information it has and how it knows all of that information. They give the demographics of the site such as the gender of the person on it and where they are from. It also provides us with the user's behavior which tells us what they do on the site and how much time they spend on each page. It also shows us how the user got to the site, such as by clicking on a Linkedin ad or by typing the site in Google. I was amazed that Google provides us with all of this information for free because it is an amazing tool an is also essential for anyone studying business to understand.
